Headed to Shoreham today as the tide was still fairly high, hoping to try
the Dyno with a smaller sail this time (I'd usually be on the old Evo 74 in
these conditions).
I arrived to see lots of people out (mostly on 4.2 - 4.5) and definitely
well powered but by the time that I'd gathered the kit from the car and
changed, everyone was stood on the beach and the wind had dropped to almost
zero. At least it made rigging easier!
For the next 15mins (in the words of another guy on the beach) it was "a
great British blob-fest"), but the wind came back after a while. It was
very up-and-down but that was actually a good test of the new board in
super-gusty winds, which it passed admirably. Much easier in the lulls and
just as much control in the gusts.
I'm still getting used to sailing such a smooth-feeling board - it's not
"boring" but it's definitely less "lively". What I'm very quickly getting
used to is only having to take one board for a whole range of conditions -
that's GREAT!
